Smartfil® antibacterial PLA filaments
The Spanish brand Smart Materials is recognized for its excellent quality in the manufacture of 3D printing materials. The PLA spools stand out for their versatility, easy handling, resistance and properties such as antibacterial PLA, an ideal material for medical applications, toys, door knobs, mask holders...
Main characteristics of the antibacterial PLA filament of Smartfil® Smart Materials
PLA or polylactic acid filament is a biodegradable, sustainable and versatile polymer. Unlike other everyday plastics, PLA is made from renewable resources such as corn, wheat or sugar cane which gives it the biodegradable quality. This PLA has been modified by adding silver nanoparticles that provide the antibacterial propertyto the filament, preventing the growth of molds, fungi and all the bacteria that cause stains, deterioration, bad smell... turning PLA into antibacterial PLA.
It is a material widely used in 3D printers by FDM technology because it is easy to handle, is fully stabilized and has an excellent result in detail.
The antibacterial effectiveness has been tested and certified by ISO 22196. Test results indicated that bacterial activity was reduced by 99.99%.
Like PLA, antibacterial PLA has temperature resistance, impact resistance and has flexibility. Perfect for medical applications by eliminating bacterial contamination, such as prosthetics, splints, surgical preparation tools, toys for sick children... It is sterilizable by the following methods: UCV (UV), Ozone, EthOx, bleach and disinfectants
It comes in two thicknesses; 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm. The printing temperature ranges from 200 - 240º C and the bed temperature from 0 to 60º C.
